BBC will be showing a series called
Animals in Love: The world's five best places to watch cuddling creatures throughout February ... the month of love.
Filmed in South and Central Africa, Florida, Colorado and the
Austrian Alps, the new series
Animals in Love sees presenter Liz Bonnin
study animals mating, grooming and falling for each other.
Two love nests in South Africa made the cut and coincidentally Vince and I will be visiting them in late February to close out 2015's month of love.
Thula Thula Private Game Reserve and
Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park in KZN.
“Thula
Thula Private Game Reserve is home to a truly remarkable herd of
elephants,” reveals Animals in Love series producer Anne Somerfield. “We followed the extraordinary
friendship between two unrelated females, Franky and ET, and how that
bond saved ET’s life.”
"The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park has several African wild dog packs,” says
Somerfield. “African wild dogs are extremely close, often mating for
life. We tracked a couple called Aladdin and Feather, who were just
starting out in their relationship.”
You can catch Animals in Love on BBC1 in the UK on 1st and 8th of February at 6 pm and on Valentine's Day, the 14th February at 9pm in the US, on ANIMAL PLANET. It will play in South Africa too, channel and dates TBD.
