Rhino Love

It's time to eat!
The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is also home to a Rhino Orphanage for the orphans and victims of poaching.

Rescued by the HESC, teen-aged Gertjie and baby Matimba both lost their mothers to poaching. They are now best friends.

Other rhinos at HESC include Lion's Den and Dingle Dell who were brutally poached and left to die along with a third rhino who unfortunately did not survive the attack. Click here to read their amazing story of survival.

Deeply traumatized, Dingle Dell and Lion's Den will most likely live out their remaining years in peace at the HESC. To contribute to their care and feeding, please contact the HESC.
