Kyoto Garden Sushi

sushi master
Somehow we managed to get a last minute table at Kyoto Garden Sushi, named the Best Asian Restaurant at the Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards in November 2014. We'd tried several times before and had no luck. But it was the eve of Friday the 13th and I guess the devil likes sushi too!

They welcomed us at our table with three tiny bowls of marinated delights. We ordered a delicious ‘the sea’ or crayfish miso soup (me) and Alaskan sea scallop tempura (Vince) as starters. And then we let the chef do the sushi, sashimi and roll selection for our main dish. We chose the medium-sized Chef's Creation option and it was perfect for two.

Nikka Whiskey from the Barrel
For dessert, I have only one word. Black sesame seed ice cream. House-made and magnificent.

The Japanese love their whiskey and Kyoto has an awesome whiskey bar with more than twenty Japanese single malt whiskies. (There is a full sake, cocktail and wine bar too.)
Sushi and whiskey. Vince was in heaven!

The devil made him do it!
