Let me give you some examples. Back to back episodes of Jersey Shore run on MTV all day long ... or maybe it just seems that way. The locals hold Jozi Shore parties on rooftops in the CBD (Jozi is a nickname for Johannesburg) promising "to bring the beach to the city."
Vince and I had lunch at Gia's on Montrose, the tea garden and cafe in our local nursery the other day. There was a breakfast special on the menu called the Danny DeVito (Danny's from Neptune, NJ) which featured one egg, beef or pork sausage, grilled rosemary-infused mushrooms, tomato and one slice of toast! No pork roll?

The theatre department of one of the local private high school, St. David's in Sandton, just performed a musical called "Jozi Shore." I didn't have the stomach to go see it.
But I am thinking it might be fun to go see "Jersey Boys" again, this time with an all South African cast, at the Teatro Montecasino.May have to see for myself how Frankie and the boys from Newark play in Jozi!
