Mapungubwe Museum

Last year Mapungubwe NP opened its new Museum and Interpretive Centre. We checked it out.

The Museum houses some of the artifacts uncovered in the archaeological site and also has displays on the natural history of Mapungubwe. The Golden Rhino is still at the Museum at the University of Pretoria though. For now.
a display on building the award-winning interpretive centre

There is a restaurant too on-site for day visitors. (I guess we could have eaten there as well!) SANParks is busy building a separate Day Visitors Center nearby with a picnic area and a pool.

There is a trail from the roof which leads to a viewing platform ...

... for an awesome view.

But alas, no gift shop! Dude, your priorities!
