What hikes up must come down

When you are climbing up the dunes in Namibia and the already narrow footpath starts getting narrower and narrower until it is practically a knife edge, you think, "I'd better watch my step carefully. One false move and I will go tumbling down the side of the dune." Not true. You will stop.

Turns out the easiest way to get down the dunes after you hike up them is on your derriere. And it is not that easy to go tumbling. It looks like you will slide down as if you are luge-ing on ice or sledding on snow, but you don't. Friction is your friend. You can sit there on the dune side at nearly 45 degrees and you won't move.  So that is what we did!
