I am actually surprised by how much time we have been spending in the Central Business District in downtown Joburg or the CBD as it is called. I never imagined I would even step foot downtown after hearing all the warnings and horror stories from my realtors, relocation specialists and the other expats we first met. But it seems like a week does not go by without at least one trip downtown to a restaurant or market, an art gallery or museum. We love it!
Today we checked out the Arts on Main and the Market on Main complexes in the Maboneng Precinct. We even walked through a couple of loft apartments for sale in the area to just to see what they were going for in this gentrification boom. They were really nice! Vince said it reminded him of NY's Soho in the 70's or a sort of "Meatpacking District Light".
