The term Big Five does not refer to an animal's size or height. It comes instead from the hunting days of the safari. They were the prized game that every big game hunter wanted to bring home and mount on their wall. Lion. Leopard. Elephant. Cape Buffalo. Rhinoceros.
But since I hunt for photographs only, I am just as thrilled to see Giraffe, Zebra, Cheetah, Hippo, Warthogs, Vervet Monkeys, and all manner of other antelope such as Bushbuck, Impala, Kudu, Waterbuck, Wildebeest, Sable and Nyala.
I was not disappointed with my first safari in South Africa. A. Maz. Ing!
