Fordsburg Night market

The Fordsburg Night Market is basically an open air souk under a tin roof where everyone comes on a Saturday night to eat, to shop, and to promenade.

It is like a little Pakistan or a little Abu Dhabi. Vince is eying these abayas or thawbs.

I am eying these chic caps.

Spices.

Hookahs!

glittery shoes!

Puri patta with escarole.

Yes, please.

Every one at Bismillah Restaurant and Take-Away ordered a sizzling dish.

Except for us.

We had a quarter vegetable bunny chow, ...

a prawn curry, ...

and a chicken tikka masala. Next time, hold the fries.

Compare and contrast. Me, out in the open for God and all the world to see. The lady behind me? In a burqa and niqab, tucked discreetly behind a screen for maximum privacy.

Durka durka jihad.
