MoAD launches in Maboneng

A new museum opened in Jozi while I was away! Awesome.

The Museum of African Design (MoAD), located at 281 Commissioner Street is the first museum on the African continent dedicated to design. A cultural hub, rather than a collecting institution, MoAD is devoted to exploring the ever-changing African continent and diaspora.

The Museum's inaugural full-length exhibition, opens November 14. Entitled Native Nostalgia, the exhibition will feature "a selection of mixed media works from around Africa that reflect on the past.

As the African archive grows, contemporary artists are reflecting on their own histories, offering new views and paradigms for looking at the past—including imperialism, colonialism, apartheid and dictatorships."

Bring it on. The more, the merrier!
