Viewing Kili

the view from Arusha National Park

Breaching an altitude of 5,895 m (19,340 ft,) Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. It is a rare occasion indeed for it to visible and not completely shrouded in clouds. We were so very lucky on our visit to Tanzania in August. We got to see and photograph Kili from the ground and from the sky!

We checked out a couple of view sites in Arusha National Park. It was a hazy dusty day but we could still clearly see the outline of the mountain with its distinctive glaciers.

We then drove up to West Kilimanjaro in the Maasai homelands to try to get an even better view.

Can you imagine if that was your view from your hut every day? Sweet!
